Members-only, follow-up event to September's Disaster Preparedness Seminar.

The AWFNJ will be hosting a follow-up session to September's Disaster Preparedness Seminar. We are grateful to have our special guest speaker, Diane Robinson, who is the Program Manager of Disaster Services for the Humane Society of the United States returning for this important follow-up seminar.

This session will cover:
• Discussion collective state-wide disaster plan
• AWFNJ members discussion of MOU preparation
• Pre-register one-on-one with Diane, HSUS about your personalized disaster plan

This session is for AWFNJ members only. If you are not already a member, there are several membership options to choose from, visit to register yourself or your organization.

As always, you are welcome to socialize, network, and share ideas with fellow professionals in the animal welfare field. Learn about statewide updates, legislative affairs and new membership opportunities for your organization. Hear how the AWFNJ is restructuring and how they can better assist your efforts. Career Development Institute (CDI), the leading learning institution for animal welfare in the state of New Jersey, is pleased to offer a Certified Pet First Aid, Pet CPR, and Emergency Preparedness for Animals course.

The course will be held at the Warren County Community College – Phillipsburg Campus on Wednesday October 30, 2019 from 6-10 pm.

This interactive course will focus on the topics of:
• Pet First Aid
• Animal CPR
• General Pet Care
• Preparing for and Reacting to Pet Emergencies
• Animal Behavior
• Hands on Practicals
• "Best Practice" Tips
• Planning and Ppreparing for Disasters

The instructor is Geoff Goyette, NJ Certified Animal Control Officer & Animal Cruelty Investigator, Bureau Chief of the Middlesex County Animal Response Team (CART), NJ Police Training Commission Certified Instructor, Vice President of Training and Development for CDI, Co-Founder of an animal rescue organization, and Pet First Aid as well as animal behavior instructor in the NJ Certified Animal Control Officer course.

Mr. Goyette has a unique perspective of combining his successful business experience with a life long passion for rescuing animals. His has first hand experience includes living and rescuing animals in a number of disaster prone areas of this country and abroad (San Francisco, New Orleans, Upstate New York, Illinois/Wisconsin, New Jersey, the Caribbean islands, and Europe) as well as working in animal shelters.

The modest cost of the course is $81.00 per attendee which includes certification by Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI) and a pet first aid book. No prior requirements or experience is needed to attend this course and anyone 16 years or older is encouraged to attend.

The ASPCAPro web site offers live webinars, recorded webinars and information on in-person training opportunities. A resource library is available as well. Many pertinent topics are covered with information on grant writing and more. Follow the links on the home page to the Training area of the site to select from the menu.
