Job Titles:  Assistant Shelter Manager (1), Animal Control Officer (2), Animal Attendants (2) and Certified Veterinary Assistant (1).

Description: Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center's intake was over 4,000 animals last year. We have a no-kill philosophy operating under the guidelines of the Asilomar Accords, we promote TNR programs and TNR'd almost 1,800 cats last year in an ever growing program. We contract with 38 towns for Animal Control and are actively adding towns every year.

We use state-of-the-art computer dispatched vehicles. We work with the Bergen County SPCA on animal cruelty cases and prepare evidence for court appearances, we handle and assist in the prosecution of potentially dangerous/vicious dogs.

We have an active adoption program and do off-site adoptions with our 30' adoption van. We have a volunteer program in which volunteers are trained in many capacities in addition to a foster kitten program with over 50 active participants.

All jobs are fulltime, with a comprehensive benefit package. All positions require weekend availability; in addition, Animal Control Officers must be available for various shifts (we operate on a 24/7 schedule). Assistant Manager and Animal Control positions require availability for emergency response situations such as weather emergencies, fires, hoarding situations and animal cruelty responses.

Applicants must be computer knowledgeable, have excellent communication and written skills and be able to participate in an educational component for the public.

For the Animal Attendant openings, we are looking for an individual with extensive kennel experience who can work an 8:30-5:30 schedule, potentially be available Thursday evenings for dog behavior classes and work at least one weekend day.

For a second Animal Attendant opening, we are looking for an individual experienced in working with cats, especially with feral cats and who has some experience with TNR along with some adoption counseling experience.
