Description:  Under direction of the Health Officer, handles and captures wild and stray domesticated animals and birds. The position will be responsible for the enforcement of the municipality's rabies control program. The position will also be responsible for environmental health compliance and enforcement activities for a local health department which includes field inspections and/or investigations in accordance with the provisions of the New Jersey State Sanitary Code in areas such as: retail food establishments, public recreational bathing, tanning facilities, youth camps; body art procedures, public health nuisances, communicable disease control, kennels, pet shops, shelters and pounds. Applicant not currently holding Animal Control Officer Certification will be required to attend and successfully complete Animal Control Officer Certification Training within 3 months of hired date.
