Description:  Position primarily involves with the care, feeding, and cleaning of their living quarters and adjacent areas. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Feed, water, clean, groom, and exercise animals. Cleans and sterilizes animal food bowls and water pans. Cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes washing and grooming areas. Cleans and disinfects animal living quarters and may clean other areas including the office and outside areas. Observes animals general health, diet, weight, appetite, etc., for negative symptoms. Maintains security within the area that the animals are housed. May perform routine clerical work in keeping records of animals being housed.

Requirements: Knowledge of the care and feeding of animals. Knowledge of the methods of cleaning and disinfecting cages, pens, and related equipment. Knowledge of identifying symptoms of health disorders in animals. Ability to maintain simple records. Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with co-workers and the public. Description: The Plainfield Area Humane Society (PAHS) is looking for an Assistant Manager. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for assisting the Manager and Director in managing the day-to-day operations of the shelter. He or she will provide leadership for the efficient and smooth functioning of all shelter operations, in accordance with established policies and procedures, city ordinances, state and federal laws and regulations. The Assistant Manager will help develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, and the public.

Requirements: The ideal candidate will:
• Have a deep concern for the humane treatment and compassionate care of animals.
• Be a proven leader with exceptional work ethic with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills.
• Hold a Bachelor's degree in animal sciences, animal welfare, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Hold a valid New Jersey Animal Control Officer Certification, or have made significant progress towards achieving one or is motivated to pursue the certification.

Additional Information: Assistant Manager is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. About PAHS: The Plainfield Area Humane Society is a private 501(c)3 non-profit organization, governed by a Board of Trustees. We have been in continuous operation since 1933. Our income comes from donations, animal control service contracts, adoption fees, fund-raisers, bequests, grants and corporate gifts. In addition to caring for and rehabilitating stray, abandoned and unwanted animals, PAHS provides programs on pet care and responsible ownership for scout, school, church, business and library groups by appointment and at no charge. These programs cover the social, health and humane aspects of living with domestic and wild animals in our urban and suburban communities.
